  • Cell are the basic building blocks of all living things.
  • The cell come from latin word ‘Cella’ meaning ‘Small room’.
  • Trillions of cells are found in human body.
  • Cell were discovered by Robert Hooke in 1665.

Cell Type– There are two type of cell.

  1. Prokoryatic Cells
  2. Eukaryatic Cells

Prokoryatic Cells– Prokaryote cells is a single celled organism that lacks an organized nucleus.

Eukaryotic Cells– Eukaryotic cells are cells which contains a nucleus enclosed within the nuclear membrane.

Cells have many parts, each with a different function-

Mitochondria– Mitochondria are known as the power house of the cells. They help turn the energy we take from food into energy that the cell can use.

Nucleus- The cells nucleus acts like the brain of the cell. It helps control eating, movements and reproduction. The nucleus is not always in the center of the cell. It will be a big dark spot somewhere in the middle of all of the cytoplasm.

Ribosomes- Ribosomes are special because they are found in both prokary and eukaryotes. It is present in large numbers in all living cells and serves as the sits of protein synthesis.

Lysosomes- are found in nearly all animal and plant cells. Lysosomes hold enzymes that were created by the cell. The purpose of the Lysosome is to digest things.

Plasma membrane- The plasma membrane of a cell is a network of lipids and proteins that forms the boundary between a cell’s contents and the outside of the cell.

Golgi apparatus- Golgi Apparatus found universally in both plant and animal cells. The Golgi Apparatus gathers simple molecules and combines them to make molecules that are more complex.

Cytoplasm- Cytoplasm is the fluid that fills a cell. It is mainly composed of water, salts and proteins.

Cytoskeleton- The Cytoskeleton is composed of proteins that give the cell shape and internal organization.
